Our Philosophy
At Central Coast Tutoring, we recognise that children learn in different ways. Our tutors take the time to connect with your child and discover how your child learns best. Our individual one on one programs help to reveal a child's own unique learning style. Once a child experiences learning success, this will help them develop a love of learning that will benefit them for life. They move from being daunted at the prospect of new material to approaching new subjects with self confidence and curiosity. Improvement in grades come as a natural consequence of this shift in the student's attitude and self belief.
We use one on one tutoring, either face to face or online, as it is one of the most effective methods of teaching with several distinct advantages:
-
it allows for immediate feedback from the student
-
the tutor is able to give encouragement immediately
-
students learn at their own pace, away from the distractions of a group setting or busy classroom
-
students can tackle learning challenges without fear of embarrassment (which can sometimes be the case when in front of other students)
Our caring one on one approach provides the focus that a classroom teacher is unable to give. This can be achieved through face-to-face sessions or online using Zoom. Being supported by Central Coast Tutoring takes pressure off you as the parent and will give you great satisfaction as you see your child develop skills and confidence in areas that have been of concern.
We look forward to celebrating the success of your child’s growth through engaging a caring tutor from Central Coast Tutors.
How We Work
The process starts with a phone call to Catherine (the owner of Central Coast Tutoring) who will listen to your concerns and gain an understanding of your child's unique situation. This will include:
-
their strengths
-
their unique learning needs
-
the subjects they enjoy
-
the subjects they are having difficulty with
-
areas of school they find fun
-
what areas are challenging
-
when do they enjoy learning
-
the type of personality they have
-
what sort of people they get along with best
Catherine will then hand pick the tutor she feels will work best with your child. Your tutor will then contact you to introduce themselves and arrange a weekly time that is suitable to work with your child.
Prior to their first session, your tutor will create a personalised learning program tailored to meet the needs of your child. Your child's individual program will help them become confident and engaged in the areas of learning that have previously been a challenge.
After each tutoring session, a report on the session is provided to you so that you can keep abreast of how your child is progressing.
Both the tutor and Catherine are available for a chat if any concerns arise.
We care about your child and are looking forward to connecting with you to identify specific areas where we can provide support, encouragement and build confidence.
